Client Testimonials

Our Team

Steve McMullen
Steve McMullen is the Principal Osteopath and owner of Osteo & Physio Sidmouth:
“I first encountered osteopathy in my late 20s while seeking treatment for various rugby and martial arts injuries. I quickly realised it was highly effective, not only for helping injury recovery but also for helping to resolve underlying stresses brought on by normal daily life. After a serious lumbar injury it was Osteopathy that was most instrumental in my recovery, and my interest in training to be an osteopath was once again stimulated.
After qualifying and gaining some experience working in other clinics I opened the Osteo and Physio clinic in Sidmouth where we screen, diagnose and treat a broad range of patients aged from 1 month to 101 years. Patients arrive with all manner of injuries from acute neck spasms, through to long term chronic lower back pain. The entire team here pride themselves on putting our patients first, taking the time to really listen to their concerns and offering evidence based and practical advice, treatment and long term guidance.”

FAQ - Common Patient Questions

Do I need a GP referral to see an osteopath or physiotherapist in Sidmouth?

No, you can book an appointment directly with us without seeing your GP first. Our qualified clinicians are trained to assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, helping you get the care you need without unnecessary delays.

Your first visit is all about understanding what’s causing your symptoms. We’ll take the time to discuss your medical history, lifestyle and any concerns you may have before carrying out a thorough assessment. Once we have a clear picture of the issue, we’ll explain our findings and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.

Both osteopathy and physiotherapy are effective ways to reduce pain, improve movement and support recovery. Osteopathy often takes a whole-body approach and uses hands-on techniques to improve mobility and function. Physiotherapy typically focuses more on rehabilitation through targeted exercises, movement education and strengthening programmes. If you’re unsure which is right for you, we’re happy to advise.

Every person and every condition is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some issues can improve in just a few sessions, while others may require longer-term support. After your assessment, your clinician will discuss what to expect and provide a realistic treatment plan based on your condition and recovery goals.
