Pilates
Pilates aims to strengthen the body in an even way, and consists of low impact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements with particular emphasis on core strength, postural alignment and muscle balance to improve general fitness and wellbeing.
Pilates has something to offer people of all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite.
Pilates was developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, his method was influenced by a variety of sports including gymnastics, boxing and Greco-Roman wrestling. The original exercises developed by Joseph Pilates have evolved over the years and integrated new biomechanical thinking but the fundamental philosophy and movement patterns remain.
A 1-1 Pilates appointment is a great way to be introduced to Pilates, these sessions can be tailored to focus on specific medical conditions such as back pain or other injuries.
A session like this also offers complete personal attention from the instructor enabling you to gain a better understanding of how to perform each exercise and ensure the exercise is executed to a high level.
Our instructor, Alice Weekes, has completed levels 1-3 Matwork Pilates courses with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) and is a graduate Sport Therapist so is very knowledgeable about injuries and can tailor Pilates sessions to address specific areas of weakness caused by injury.

For your body to function well, its structure must also work well and be in good balance.
Treatment is individually tailored to each patient.
Advice on posture, diet and appropriate exercises are routinely given.
