Neck Pain Treatment In Surrey & Devon
Osteo & Physio - Neck Pain Treatment
Neck pain can occur because of an injury, a mechanical or muscular problem, a trapped nerve caused by a bulge in one of the discs between the vertebrae or from arthritis of the neck. We provide neck pain treatment in Surrey & Devon for a range of conditions, to help ease symptoms. We have clinics conveniently located in Sidmouth, Epsom, Staines, Tiverton, Wellington, Ottery, and Cullompton.
There is evidence to support the effectiveness of manual therapy in the treatment of mechanical neck pain. A 2012 study (Bronfort et al, 2012) concluded that spinal manipulation and / or home exercise with advice were more effective in treating acute and subacute neck pain (duration of pain 2-12 weeks) than medication alone in both the short and long term. Due to the fact that neck problems can often arise due to compensation from lower down the spine it is important to assess the whole spine and to treat areas away from the region that is sore. There is evidence to support this principle too. Thoracic spine mobilisation and manipulation has been been shown to be effective in the treatment of acute and subacute neck pain (Bronfort et al, 2010).
The osteopaths, physiotherapists and massage therapists that practice at Osteo and Physio in Tiverton, Topsham and Cullompton have over 30 years combined experience at dealing with neck pain, whether it be local to the neck or travelling to another part of the body and whether it has just occurred or been a nagging discomfort for a long period of time.
