Mummy MOT

Mummy MOT® at Osteo and Physio

The Mummy MOT is a specialist type of postnatal appointment for mothers, to support full recovery from issues associated with pregnancy and birth.
Over 50% of all mothers experience weakness in their pelvic floor and abdominal muscles after pregnancy. These issues can cause instability, which in turn can lead to the development of back and pelvic pain, bladder or bowel problems and even sexual dysfunction.

You should consider booking a Mummy Mot if you are experiencing any of the following:

During your Mummy MOT® appointment you will receive a thorough assessment including;
Your practitioner will assess how your posture, pelvic floor and stomach muscles are recovering and if they’re not, then we can provide you with hands-on treatment, advice and exercises to help in your recovery and to return to exercise safely.

Mummy MOT frequently asked questions

The initial 1 hour consultation will go through a full case history, full postural screen including a pelvic floor muscle assessment, abdominal muscle exam to check for separation, screen for bladder, bowel or sexual dysfunction.

The 30 minute follow up appointment will recheck all your original symptoms, provide education and advice on safe activities such as lifting your baby or pushing a buggy. A bespoke rehabilitation programme may also be provided as well as a written report of the findings of your assessment.

It is recommended that women have their initial Mummy MOT consultation after their 6-8 week GP check. We can also help women who gave birth years ago that may still have a tummy gap or pelvic floor related issues.
We offer free 20 minute Mummy MOT assessments so you can speak to our professional therapists in person. This is your opportunity to find out more about the Mummy MOT and how it might be able to help your symptoms. If you would rather speak to someone on the phone before coming in to the clinic then we can arrange for one of our Mummy MOT practitioners to give you a call back at a time convenient to you.
