Sometimes this may require the appropriate scans through the doctor before beginning therapy, to determine your diagnosis.
Shoulder mobility exercise
The right types of exercises can help improve your shoulder\’s overall strength and mobility.
- Aquatic exercises can help increase resistance without putting too much pressure on your shoulder joint. Under the water, move your arms back and forth and in circles to increase mobility
- Using weights, you can lift your arms in front of you, to the side, and above your head to help build muscles. Repeating this motion can help increase the strength of your rotator cuff. Start with a smaller weight and work your way up.
- Manual therapy is typically done by a licensed therapist. The therapist mobilises and stretches the areas of the shoulder that are stiff using anatomy placements to stretch and exercise the shoulder and surrounding muscles.
Stretches for shoulder mobility
Stretching your shoulder can help improve your overall shoulder mobility and range of motion. Work slowly through your stretches and exercises to prevent further injury from happening.
- Standing arm swings can help increase blood flow and flexibility to the shoulder joints. While standing with your arms by your sides, swing your arms forward as high as they will go and return your arms to your sides. Repeat this for around a minute.
- Cross arm stretch can help stretch out the rotator cuff muscles and help release the rear side of your shoulders. While standing, take your arm and pull it across to the other side of your body. Hold your arm there for up to 30 seconds and repeat on the other side.
