Marie Cann

Sports Massage Therapist

Marie is a sports massage therapist who is passionate about keeping her clients active and helping them move better. She enjoys Pilates, trail running, CrossFit, Olympic lifting, bouldering and wild swimming.

Marie says “I chose to undertake my diploma in sports massage because I want to provide a means to help people move better, be pain free and remain active. I will provide motivation and encouragement to seek pain free movement through soft tissue modalities, education for self-care and self-help. Not being able to perform functional daily tasks or pursue pastimes is debilitating. Over many years I have learnt to manage my own pain and muscular imbalances and I have found that with the right combination of treatment and exercise its amazing the difference that can be made to the quality of your physical and mental wellbeing”

Marie uses a variety of sports, deep tissue and neuro-muscular techniques to alleviate pain, release trigger points, reduce muscle tension and improve postural problems and repetitive movement injuries. Marie is also trained in Kinesiology taping and myofascial cupping.

Marie is fascinated by the principles of human movement; particularly the impact dysfunctional movement patterns have within sport and how injuries can be prevented by building a solid functional movement base. Her personal hobbies provide a great source of knowledge and comfort to her clients as they discuss the mechanics of an Olympic lift for example and how to overcome muscular imbalance or lack of joint mobility in order to execute a lift safely.

Marie is also training to become a strength and conditioning coach so she can take part in not only resolving pain and preventing injury but also use movement analysis to help athletes improve their performance.
