George Salt

Osteopath

George graduated from Plymouth Marjon University with a Masters in Osteopathic Medicine (M.Ost) and is also qualified in Sports Massage and Medical Acupuncture.

His approach as an Osteopath is careful and thoughtful, helping with a range of health complaints from young adults to patients in their golden years. He takes the time to listen, asking many questions to gain full understanding of the complaint before conducting an appropriate physical examination. When treating, George uses safe and effective hands-on techniques which can include soft tissue massage, joint articulation, mobilisation. Every patient is worked with individually and when required he creates a custom made exercise programme which fits their lifestyle and work patterns.

His special interests are in conditions which affect the neck, lower back, shoulder, wrist and hand. His interest in the profession arose after a severe rock-climbing accident, which, after being treated by numerous healthcare professionals, found osteopathy to be the most effective way to relieve pain. Since then, he dedicated himself towards the mastery of pain management and pursuit of medical knowledge from both ‘western’ and ‘eastern’ perspectives. During his time at university, George gained interest in anthropology and human evolution. He believes that the development of characteristic attributes such as self-empathy and resilience through participation in social and cultural practices including dance and martial arts are key to gaining vitality in our health.

George decided to relocate to the south-west after spending years teaching sailing at centres in the UK and abroad. With a passion for the outdoors and maritime history, he feels fortunate to live so close to Devon and Dorset’s spectacular coastline.
