David Thompson
Osteopath
David is a new graduate with 12 years’ experience working in health and fitness. After leaving Leeds University with a degree in Creative Writing he pursued a career in public relations, specialising in the health and fitness industry.
After years of helping other health professionals, gym chains, leisure centre operators and fitness experts grow their businesses he decided to move into therapeutic work himself.
After two years of working as a sports massage therapist and personal trainer he decided to explore a deeper understanding of the underlying causes of pain, health and wellness. He graduated with a master’s degree in naturopathic osteopathy from the renowned British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 2022.
Inspired and informed by his own health and chronic pain challenges in his youth, David’s mission is to help people find the keys to their own health. He strives to restore ease, joy and freedom of movement through structural interventions and lifestyle change. Working together with his patients to develop exercise plans that focus on improving movement quality, efficiency and enjoyment of physical activity, David uses a movement coaching approach to exercise advice that patients find easy to engage with and fit into their lives.
While prevention through healthy lifestyles is central to David’s approach, he works with structural osteopathic and soft tissue techniques to restore natural, easeful movement which tend to reduce pain and improve quality of life. He believes feeling good in the body is key to good health, so his interventions are gentle but firm with a focus on finding and resolving the sources of dysfunction.
David is fascinated by human movement, with interests in dance, martial arts and a wide variety of movement practices and the performing arts. He loves the great outdoors, wild camping and wild swimming. He’s also been an avid cyclist and loves music, playing folk
guitar and blues harmonica. David has just moved to Devon from London to build a new life closer to nature and finding the perfect work-life balance.
Treatments with David are dynamic, incisive and effective while being deeply relaxing and grounding.
